For over 20 years At Risk Children Foundation, Inc has been providing critical assistance to children and families struggling in poverty through many programs aimed at improving their lives.

Our Mission

We strive to provide educational opportunities to children through strengthening families and communities. Our approach addresses the physical, social, emotional and educational needs of children.

Our Vision

We believe education will help children see human possibilities for themselves beyond the degradation they experience daily. We envision each child having access to the greater world and the opportunity to participate in it, with their own ideals.

Make A Difference In The World By Combating Poverty

The” C’Est Si Bon” Haitian Cuisine Cookbook by At Risk Children foundation was created to help the children overcome destitution and help them to succeed. They do not want anything that elicits pity or hopelessness in their difficult lives, but rather they are full of hope for a bright future. Kids’Education

The average yearly cost to send a child to school is estimated at $550.00 in urban areas and $430.00 in the countryside. This
includes enrolment fees, Tuition, uniforms, books, shoes, and all other supplies. These costs are impossible for nearly 80% of all Haitian families and render school as unattainable. This problem has resulted in an illiteracy rate of more than 65% of the population.

These hurdles to an education can easily create a sense of desperation in parents and contribute to the hopelessness of children. As a result, a seemingly perpetual cycle of poverty continues, generation after generation. That is why ARCF’s kids’ educational project isso vital to changing the culture of poverty in Haiti.

Pure Water

Many of Haiti’s problems Haiti’s widespread lack of access to safe drinking water and poor sanitation is the leading cause of infant mortality and illness in children. Many children, especially those living in rural areas, do not in fact have any drinking water. Nearly every water source has become contaminated with human and animal waste because of the absence of a sewage sanitation system.

Mobil Clinic

Dr. Charles our Mobile Clinic Coordinator, head of Medecin Haitien Volontaires “MEDHAVOL” along with volunteer Cubans medical teams lead these traveling clinics twice a year in some of the most inaccessible section of Haiti. They usually see around 60 to 80 patients on a normal day, mostly young women for sexually transmitted infections, elderly women for chronic pain and hypertension, and young children with respiratory infections and Scabies.

Scabies are the most common illness in young children. A contagious skin condition caused by tiny mites that burrow into the skin, scabies is a symptom of unsanitary living conditions. It is especially common in parts of the city where access to water is limited, and sanitation facilities are inadequate.

Rev. Pastor Sean Mulcahy

Rev Sean Mulcahy was ordained a Roman Catholic priest at All Hallows Seminary in Ireland. He came immediately to the Archdiocese of Miami in the United States. He served in 3 different parishes, and then founded and built St. Ignatius Church in Palm Beach Gardens. In January 1976, St. Maurice Parish in Fort Lauderdale welcomed Fr. Mulcahy as its next Pastor and were blessed by his leadership for the next 23 years. Many wonderful things happened during those years. Fr. Sean’s finest attributes flourished at St. Maurice. He directed the parish with administrative ability, pastoral sensitivity, and a powerful sense of social justice. He demonstrated these especially by promoting The St. Maurice Hunger Program. This unique parochial effort provided funds for food and water for the poorest people in communities throughout the world. He funded this gigantic charity primarily from the proceeds of the annual Country Fair at St. Maurice. Who could forget a dedicated Fr. Sean emptying the garbage pails during this fair which attracted thousands.

Fr. Sean’s qualities of commitment to the poor, unquestioned purity of motivation, and business acumen were exactly what At Risk Children’s Foundation needed in its new position of vice-chairman. Thus, we were thrilled when Father agreed to shoulder this great responsibility as a member of the executive board. We look forward to his creativity and work-ethic on behalf of our beloved children of Haiti
