Who We Are
From 2002 on ARCF-Save the Kids has been providing critical assistance to children and families struggling in poverty through many programs aimed at improving their lives, strengthening families through community empowerment, and escaping poverty through education.

History of C’Est Si Bon
The idea for this cookbook “C’Est Si Bon” meaning “so delicious” originated when Stephanie and Rose (ages sixteen and fifteen, respectively) made Paté kodé ak Harran sour, a savory fried dough made with flour, herbs, garlic, and ground herring. It was delicious. Stephanie suggested that selling the fried dough with lemonade at fifteen gourdes apiece (US equivalent to forty cents could raise money for schoolbooks)
Stephanie’s suggestion was one of the topics of our discussion at the July meeting, which set this entire project into motion!
Her idea resulted in the creation of C’Est Si Bon “Haitian Cuisine Cookbook” by At Risk Children Foundation, which you now hold in your hands.
The story is the children’s and the book is yours.

The Crisis
The children crisis is massive, but there is hope. We are pleased to share with you the current condition of Haiti’s youth and the efforts at At-Risk Children Foundation to save them “one child, one family and one community at a time”
We believe that a focus on education is the best gift we can give to children and young adults. Haiti’s greatest resource is the young generation of tomorrow. We are determined to lend a hand to help them rise out of poverty, not through charity but through education. We believe that education is a powerful tool for community development.

Education Changes Everything
Meet Widlene Dorzilma, 15 years ago
September of 2010. eight-year-old Widlene was among many kids enrolled
in first grade for the first time at Ecole La Jemmerais of Custine, Cavaillon
where she faces difficulties coping with the younger kids, in the classroom,
they teased and harassed her. From then on, we supported her schooling
along with others. Now she has grown mature in her faith and determination
she’s learned to trust in God. Despite her struggles she aspires to break the
cycle of poverty and make a difference in her family life.
Now at twenty-one, she studies, at College Jean Jacques Dessalines in Philo
classes. (Philo equivalent U.S 12th grade +1) classes are required to take
Haiti’s National Exam. She remains dedicated to her dream of helping others
as a nurse.
“I want to be a Nurse”, she said.
